What session during the week do you place the most importance on?
Maybe it is your interval session, long run or threshold session? These are all important pieces of the jigsaw but do not overlook your easy runs, these are where the magic happens.
The hard sessions are important and provide ‘overload’ which can lead to fitness gains but only when the recovery is done right. The rest and easy runs are what give the body time to adapt and recover from the stress and fatigue so that you are ready to go again in the next hard session. Without this recovery we would soon go into a state of over training leading to decreased performance, fatigue and possibly injury.
